As I’ve been forced to look at my home décor due to “the Covid” making us all stay home a little more, I’ve been inspired to change the appearance of decor and general items around my home. Who really wants to go out to the stores and buy all new items? I don’t. As envision the look or texture changing for various items around my home, I find myself looking up painting and refinishing various items on. Pinterest and You Tube. It’s amazing what a can of spray paint can do for various items around the home. I wanted a clothes hamper in a different color, I painted. I wanted an oscillating fan in my guest room with rose gold fan blades. Guess what I did? You got it. I spray painted the blades on my fan. There was even a small bookcase that a neighbor of mine sat out on trash day. It wasn’t in the color that I wanted for my office but I still saw the potential in sanding the bookcase and staining it.
These are items that I owned or shall say gained ownership of (shout out to the neighbors who throw out what I call useful trash). I transform the look and the feel of items instantly with color changes. After making subtle changes such as painting items or reupholstering stools and ottomans around my place, I can’t help but smile in excitement when people ask me “hey, did you get a new ___” ? I could pass these newly transformed items along as new purchases but I love to tell my friends and family how I’ve come up with ideas to change the look of so many items I already own or acquired from trash day on my street. I couldn’t be more proud of the new feeling I get from upgrading the look of something I already own. What ideas can you share on the makeovers you’ve done around your homes? Just Speak On It!
