How about ‘ dem Oscars?
Well, I will have to start this out by saying that I do not watch the Oscars. Ever. Thanks to the Internet I really don't have to watch it in order to see some of the highlights. Like that incident from this weekend when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock.
I couldn't help but hear about that incident because it overrode the other events from the awards such as... I don't know... nominations? So, I've seen the memes which are hilarious by the way. After reviewing the video footage for myself which lead up to the infamous "slap", I must say, I have even more respect for both Chris Rock AND Will Smith.
I commend Will Smith for being human. Yep, that's right. Just like you, me, and the rest of us! Being human means our emotions can take over in ways that we may later have to apologize for. I'm not interested in taking a side because frankly I wouldn't get anything out of it and neither will you. These two guys had an honest moment of being human for which they both later apologized.
None of us are perfect and to be honest watching the comments that say that either one of these guys are wrong is quite entertaining from a population of people who are making mistakes daily out emotion and ego. That includes myself and people that I know on a personal level. Will reacted emotionally out of the instinct to protect his wife and Chris Rock reacted phenomally by not responding out of emotion. He stood true to his place during the ceremony by not hitting Will back and playing it off. I saw authenticity!
Has your perspective on the situation changed the way you view Will or Chris? If so, then how? Just Speak On It!
Exactly!
